Rotary Projects Around the GlobeJanuary

President's Report 11.01.22
Today was the first day back after the Xmas break, The numbers were down today as still holiday period. I had a great Xmas with my family in the ACT at a resort, then later went to Tumbarumba with friends and went to the Rodeo there; an experience!
It was a fairly quiet affair today with no guest speaker and no rotary information, nor members choice. This left a lot of time for fellowship. There was a change with NO singing, just recited the rotary grace and the national anthem at the end. This was very hit and miss but I am sure we will improve. This is going to be that way for a while I suspect; it wasn't too bad for a first attempt. David Byfield spoke very briefly filling rosters for the upcoming gears and beers festival; no doubt it will be sorted soon. Let's hope it goes ahead.
Rick Priest told us of his disastrous episode of trying to get to the PCYC Xmas function dressed as S anta. His lift forgot, and then tried the fire brigade but they can only take someone half a kilometre! Finally he arrived late in a police car!
At our next meeting district governor Leo Farrely and local area Elaine Almond will be attending to talk on their roles in Rotary and looking for volunteers  to follow them in due course; Pleas try to attend if you can.
I note some members have not paid their dues. If you have a problem please let us know so we can help you.
For those still away safe and healthy travels and look forward to seeing you all soon.

Secretary's Report 11.01.22
Hi all,

A quiet start to the year, a lot of members still away on holiday.
The Food and Wine volunteer rosters were presented by David Byfield. These will appear on the tables each week, please add your names into areas where you can help out on the day.
A belated Santa Claus arrived today and presented members with chocolates. Well done Ric.
Next week the District Governor Leo Farrelly will be visiting along with Area 3 Governor Elaine Almond.
Leo will be speaking to members and making a Power Point presentation. Leo will be in Wagga for the week and visiting all Wagga Rotary Clubs.

Board Meeting:
There will be a Board meeting on Monday 17th Jan 2022 in the Ambassador room, Romano's hotel, 5:30pm.
All committee chairs please submit reports to their respective directors.

Tickets have gone on sale online. There will be a Committee meeting next week and an assessment of progressive sales will be taken then, and hopefully we can gauge how keen patrons are to support the festival. Final costs have not been established, we are still waiting on some quotes to come in. Our Meeting January 11th

Today's meeting

There was no Zoom meeting today.
President Richard opened the meeting and welcomed us back for the new year. He was strict about the latest no signing rule, after members burst forth loudly into signing Rotary grace, he quickly put a stop to it! We made a toast to the Queen and people of Australia then quietly sat down for fellowship. Most meals were served early today, I was supprised to see them getting delivered just as we sat down.

Talks

David Byfield talked about the Food & Wine Festival, with only five weeks to go, and two weeks after that will be Gears & Beers. He asked for members to start thinking about it now and put their name down on Food & Wine roster sheets provide at each table. The help is needed on Friday to setup, on Saturday, and on Sunday for pack up and clean up. An email will go out about the rosters.

Rick Priest gave a talk – a lengthy excuse for his absence at the last meeting before Christmas. He had taken on the task of wearing a red suit and visiting a children's Christmas party but was left waiting for his lift. The fire truck never turned up but the police did. After all this he was too late to attend the Rotary meeting.
Today Rick brought the gifts intended for our pre-Christmas meeting along so he could finally hand them out.

President Richard took the stand to inform us of a email scam asking people to be friends on Facebook.

Fines/Donations

Bill Parker took around the donation box. He then attempted to locate the money counter. With Pikie away he turned to Peter Wilesmith.
However not yet briefed on the treasure role, and busily taking notes for this bulletin, I attempted to avoid the job. Bill kindly counted the money, and I was able to scribble down the tally as he called it out.

Secretaries Report

Phil Burges gave his very informative secretaries report.
He let us know next week the District Governor Leo Farrelly will be in Wagga for the week and visiting all Wagga Rotary Clubs.
At our next meeting Leo will be speaking to members and giving a Power Point presentation. He is accompanied by Area 3 Governor Elaine Almond.

Members Draw

The members draw was a lengthy process again this week with seven pegs drawn out. All numbers being absent members before Paul Murray's number came out. He accepted the prize and looked happy with the wine.

Here is some of the regular post meeting coffee drinkers down at Café Sonder.
