Rotary Information

ROTARY INFORMATION with Rick Priest
PP Rick spoke today about RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Service). RAWCS acts as a conduit for raising funds that are tax deductible, and getting these funds and materials to the different areas that need them. They also coordinate teams to go to these places, at the team member's own expense.
Rick spoke of the experience of some of the other clubs in finding that although they were ready to help, the materials had vanished, or the area had to be cleaned up before they could start.
He suggested that the Clubs might apply for funds to bring some young men or women back to Australia for what amounts to basic training in the use of tools etc. as this is certainly an area of need.
Our Meeting Aug 8

Ken Taylor is feeling pretty satisfied with the world. His team have sold three of their aircraft to an organisation in Brazil. The long hours of product development are beginning to pay off!

As we all know we have a Rotary Aviation Friendship group and at least one of our club is involved with this. However there are also some keen modellers and drone operators as well.

The photo here shows a model that Darren Wallace has refurbished and flown successfully.

President Paul reminded us that Hat Day was being held on Oct 10th this year. Make sure you bring a hat and some money as this is a great cause All the money spent goes to research into Mental Health. This condition touches nearly all of us in one way or another, and we need to research and promote good mental health issues.

KURRAJONG LONG LUNCH

 Saturday August 19.

Kurrajong is celebrating their 60th anniversary with a lunch and the launch of the building programme for the Community farm at "Hildasid" in Gregadoo Road.  The function commences at 1pm in a heated marque and includes Canapes, drinks on arrival and lunch followed by entertainment and a BBQ meal for those enjoying the entertaining music.  Tickets are $125pp. Please contact Pykie to make a booking on 0429 694697

The building programme will provide a place for people with a disability and a wide range of community groups to connect and engage in meaningful activities, It's the prefect location for creative arts, developing skills and interests, knowledge sharing, community gardening, animal rearing, volunteering and simply doing the things people choose.

We're looking forward to getting a couple of tables together, and enjoy fellowship with Wollundry Rotarians, partners and guests.

Sergeant

David Pyke  was Sergeant of the Day.
He attempted to accuse several members for tardiness, but missed the mark on a couple of occaisions. Not to worry, they all paid generously. We learnt that Phil Macintosh had trouble with his bike, John Ferguson was very helpful to Frank (which one) Fuller in his time of pain, and that David Benn, Phil Macintosh (again) and Richard Rossiter wore suits causing embarrassment to Burmo who didn't wear a tie this week. Paul Murray was looking for a quarter!! Tim Magillicuddy admitted to a lifetime ambition to be a garbage man, as they only work Tuesdays!

President Paul ran a Q&A session today, as the guest speaker was unable to attend..
It was extremely entertaining and won by the Jim and James Crew. Chocolates all round!!

Both Laurie Blowes and Phil Macintosh have asked us to indicate if we can be involved in the two upcoming festivals. The Gears and Beers is just seven(Ist of October!!) weeks away and we need to be establishing roster and responsibilities very soon. GB is also looking for sponsors who might like to come on board.
The Food and Wine Festival is also underway and plans are well afoot.

Can you help on Sunday August 13?
The Wagga Wagga Cycling Club is holding the NSW Junior Road Cycling Championships on Sunday 13th August.
And yes we have found eight volunteers for the Sunday. Well done fellows
